Prevention
You decide your FATE
through the choices you make.
F A T E is the HIV prevention
Collaboration; the goals of the collaboration are:
To improve public awareness about HIV / AIDS
To decrease STD / HIV infection rates
To coordinate HIV education and prevention
efforts
To assist community efforts in HIV prevention
To offer community -based counseling
FATE
is a prevention program that services the Upper Savannah Area
which is Greenwood, Laurens, Edgefield, Abbeville, McCormick
and Saluda. We go out into the communities and educate individuals
about HIV/AIDS with an emphasis on how to
protect yourself through condom use, Safe sex negotiation,
condom use negotiation and abstinence negotiation. FATE
makes its presence known within the communities throughout
our six county areas by giving out safe sex kits that contain
condoms and lubricants.
FATE
provides:
Educational presentations for churches and other various organizations.
HIV is not defined by who
you are, but what you do to put yourself at risk for and with.
If you have any types of unprotected sex (including oral),
then you are at risk.
Are you:
1. An IV drug user?
2. Do you exchange sex for drugs, do you have a tattoo or
body piercing if so then you may be at risk for HIV.
3. Do you know anyone that takes part in any of these risky
behaviors?
4. Positive that you are or have been in monogamous relationships?
Then encourage them to get tested. If you
have noticed when you go to your family physician, one of
the questions on the medical history is: Do you have HIV?
When you see this question, can you answer with absolute certainty?
Do you really know your status? There is only one way to know
for sure, that is to get tested. Take Control, Get Tested
Today.
